Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) Well Visits
What is the Healthy Kids Program of Nevada?
EPSDT also known as Healthy Kids program in Nevada, ensures a healthy, happy childhood and a productive life. The Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) program helps kids and young adults under 21 who have Medicaid. It makes sure they get regular check-ups, find health problems early, and get the care they need to stay healthy. The Healthy Kids Program is part of this. It helps families find doctors and other health services, and teaches them how to use these services to take care of their health.
What’s Covered?
Kids can get care like:
• Height and weight check
• Hearing and vision tests
• Recommended Immunizations
• Full physical exam
• Diet and nutrition review
• Developmental check
• Mental health screening
• Dental screening
• Vision services
• Lab tests
Why Well-Child Visits Matter:
- Preventive Care Saves Time and Money
When doctors find problems early, it can stop them from getting worse. This means fewer trips to the emergency room and lower health care costs.
- Stronger Parent-Doctor Relationship
Seeing the doctor regularly helps parents feel more comfortable asking questions or talking about concerns.
- Learning and Support
Parents get helpful tips about food, sleep, safety, and how their child is growing. They can also ask the doctor for advice.
- Peace of Mind
Parents feel better knowing their child is healthy and growing the way they should. If something is wrong, the doctor can catch it early.
Doctors recommend check-ups at these ages:
Babies and Toddlers:
- 3–5 days old
- 1 month
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 24 months (2 years)
- 30 months (2½ years)
Preschool to Adolescence
- Annually from age 3 to 21 years
We will send you a reminder about well-child checkups. It is important for your child to go to all the well-child checkups. Make an appointment with your PCP *A well-child visit/check is the same as an EPSDT
