We understand that getting to your doctor’s appointments can sometimes be a challenge. That’s why SilverSummit Healthplan partners with SafeRide to provide Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) for our eligible rural Medicaid members.

Whether you need a ride to a routine check-up, a specialist visit, or the pharmacy, we are here to ensure you get the care you need without worrying about how to get there.

What is SafeRide?

SafeRide provides scheduled transportation for medically necessary appointments that do not require an ambulance. This service is designed to help you access:

  • Primary care and specialist visits
  • Urgent care clinics
  • Pharmacies for prescription pickups
  • Dialysis centers
  • Mental health services

How Does It Work?

SafeRide offers various modes of transportation to meet your specific medical needs, including:

  • Buses and trains
  • Taxis
  • Wheelchair-accessible vehicles
  • Mileage reimbursement (if you or a your friend or family member can drive you)

How to Schedule a Ride

Scheduling your transportation is simple.

  1. Call To request a ride, call SafeRide at 1(888)583-1109.
  2. Use the Mobile App Once you are set up, you can manage your rides directly through the MySafeRide Member App, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 

Gas & Mileage Reimbursement

Do you have a friend or family member who can drive you? We offer mileage reimbursement! To get reimbursed:

  1. Register: Sign up the driver with SafeRide.
  2. Book: Schedule the trip with SafeRide before the appointment.
  3. Submit: Submit your claim via the MySafeRide app or by mail within 60 days.
  4. Call Ahead: Please keep in mind that if you want to utilize the gas mileage reimbursement, you have to book it as a ride with SafeRide in advance.

Yes, you are allowed to bring one additional person (like a caregiver or family member) if you complete and submit a form to SafeRide in advance.

We know doctor's visits don't always run on time. If your appointment runs longer than expected, contact the driver or SafeRide as soon as possible to let them know.

No, there is no limit on the number of medically necessary trips you can take per year.
